Living in the area
There are many advantages to living
in or around Leighton Buzzard. The
countryside is attractive and the
town itself is still small enough to
have a sense of community and yet
London, Oxford, Milton Keynes and
the Midlands are within easy reach
for theatre outings or other
cultural pursuits.
There are many local activities and
attractions. Woburn Abbey and Safari
Park and Whipsnade Park are on the
doorstep, there are a number of
first class golf courses locally,
including the championship courses
at Woburn, and there is an active
sailing club within easy reach at
Stewartby.
In addition to its first class
shopping centre, the development of
Milton Keynes 10 miles to the North
has also provided a whole range of
activities, for example a large
indoor ski slope, multi-screen
cinemas, ice and roller skating
rinks and ten pin bowling. Milton
Keynes also has a thriving theatre
and art gallery and The Stables jazz
and music venue is easily accessible
on the south side of the town.
The local schools, comprehensive in
Bedfordshire and selective in
Buckinghamshire, have excellent
standards. For those who might
choose private education, the
schools in Bedford or in Berkhamsted
are in reach for day pupils and all
have first class reputations.
