For other online services, please see 'Clinics & Services' tab above.
Please note that our dispensary is temporarily closed from 1.00-2.00pm on Mondays and Fridays .. paper prescriptions may be collected from our reception desk during this period but we regret we are unable to dispense during these times. We are working hard to rectify this problem and anticipate returning to a normal service by the middle of the year.
If you are a new patient, the doctor will need to see you before medication can be issued; alternatively you may receive just a small supply of medication to allow time to make an appointment.
Once the doctor has approved your repeat prescription, simply indicate the items you require on the tear-off slip of your computerised prescription in order to request a repeat. This may be faxed to us, left at reception or posted with a stamp-addressed envelope for us to return (if required).
Alternatively you can order online via the link at the top of this page. New users are required to complete a simple registration. If you would like to learn more about ordering medication online, please access this video link: https://youtu.be/lY-ANwGxnLg
For your safety, we do not take requests for prescriptions over the telephone as this can be dangerous.
Many drugs not only sound the same but have a very similar spelling. If the tear-off slip does not contain all of your usual drugs, please let us know and we will arrange for it to be altered for the next time.
Doctors need to see patients at regular intervals to review their medication and the dispensary staff will indicate when you need to book an appointment. In the interests of safe prescribing and proper control of medication, you will be issued with 28 days of medication at a time unless there are any medical indications why a prescription with fewer days of medication would be in your best interest.
We are able to dispense for some of our patients from our dispensary. This is regulated by the NHS and is not under our control, but falls largely into one of the following 2 categories:
*If you feel you fall into the latter category, please speak to our dispensary staff to see if you are eligible for this service.
Please note: We require two clear working days’ notice to issue repeat prescriptions in order to process these safely by reviewing your medical records, i.e. requests handed in on Friday will be processed by Tuesday afternoon. (Bank holidays, Saturdays and Sundays do not count as working days).
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
Fees increase on 1st April 2017 to the following:
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
We are delighted to confirm that we have been live with EPS since the summer of last year. This system enables GPs and Nurse Prescribers to send prescriptions electronically to a dispenser (such as a pharmacy) of the patient's choice. This makes the prescribing and dispensing process more efficient and convenient for patients and staff. If you would like to know more, please speak to one of our dispensary staff or your usual GP or click on this link: EPS Patient Factsheet
